With names like Stay Thirsty, Watch Me Go, and Pants On Fire; some of the entertainment of the Kentucky Derby is just to listen to the monikers of the thoroughbreds. Imagine lounging in the grandstands and hearing the name of the past year’s champion Animal Kingdom by a nose. Even if you just gambled away all your money, you have to crack up at that name.

There is also a load of excitement at the pre-race party, also. It begins the 14 days just before the race. The fireworks are the start of the show each year and all can view them sitting in a car or watch them up close in the stadium bleachers. The next few weeks are filled with soccer, baseball and volleyball to be enjoyed by everyone, not just the sports fans. There are also lots of concerts folks can enjoy back in the grandstands. There are many concerts always happening. There is everything from rock to classic or country to swing.

And, there is an event which is the only one to include racing riverboats; the Great Steamboat Races. A lot of these festivities cost nothing and the musical acts are almost 24/7. You can go to a ballroom dance or a country hoe-down, there is something for everyone. So just come on over and enjoy.

The best thing at the races are in the entertainment of seeing the celebrities enter the grandstands. What’s this about? The fashion show has started with the hats.

There were more event than at Prince William’s wedding. Jennifer Tilly, known for her acting and voice over jobs, started the procession with what seemed like a python on top of a wine colored frisbee . Next was Erin Andrews, better known as “Dancing with the Stars” ex-contestant, who almost blew away in a gust of wind thanks to her huge mess on her head. Always one to make an appearance, next was Kate Gosling, star of reality TV with a black feathered lamp shade that only an ostrich could love. Then the ever so messy Aubrey O’Day entered wearing on her head a bunch of bent black and white straw.

A few come to bet, a few come to play games, but all come to see the fashion show that happens every year in the grandstands. Wonder what will happen next time.
